5th year Subject Options
On this page you will find information on the subjects that students can select for Leaving Certificate, and instructions on how to log in to Vsware to complete the selection process, and the help email address.
Deadline Date for Subject Choices 26th March
These subjects do not need to be selected as these are mandatory subjects.
Leaving Certificate students study the following core subjects:
We offer 20 subject options in Senior Cycle, of which students study 4. We ask students to select 8 subjects in order of preference in VSWare, and we offer students four of these. For many this will be their first 4 preferences, however we cannot guarantee this as practical subjects in particular have max class sizes that are permitted in schools.
CHOICE SUBJECTS: In addition, each Fifth year student will choose to study any four of the following choice subjects listed below. In order to accommodate as many student preferences as possible in the Fifth Year timetable you are asked to list in order of preference 8 subjects on VSware from the following subjects:
DESIGN AND COMMUNICATION GRAPHICS
POLITICS AND SOCIETY
Option Subjects Presentations
Our teachers have put together helpful videos so students make better decisions when choosing option subjects.
Subjects are selected in VSWare Watch Video below on how to enter options into VSWare ,

Changing Subjects if a Change of Mind
Parents can log back in at any time during the subject options choosing period up to 26th March and change subjects chosen and this will overwrite previous selection.
After this date it is much more difficult to change subjects as many subjects are full after this date and subjects are arranged in blocks so subject moves are quite limited at that stage.
Will my child get the subjects they choose
Please note that while we endeavour to provide students with their highest ranked choices this is not always possible.
