All junior cycle and TY pupils in St Colman’s CC participate in a double period of Physical Education every week. All abilities are catered for through a range of individual and team activities. Our onsite indoor hall allows us to undertake PE all year round. St Colman’s CC also has a high spec indoor climbing wall which is always very popular with pupils. Our school also has a full size GAA pitch which is used for a variety of sports & events. St Colman’s CC enters teams from U14 to senior in hurling & football and a strong sporting culture exists. Ladies football is the fastest growing sport in St Colman’s CC and girls get to compete in both junior & senior competitions. The schools rugby team has gone from strength to strength in recent years and have participated in several tournaments. St Colman’s CC are lucky to have a full size basketball hall and both boys & girls teams compete in school competitions. Soccer is one of the most popular sports in St Colman’s CC and the school has a strong tradition with teams entered in both junior and senior competitions. Athletics has also thrived in recent years with pupils regularly winning medals at both regional & national level. Other sports pupils compete in at St Colman’s CC include: tennis, badminton, golf, rowing, and cricket. St Colman’s CC facilitates a wide range of sporting pursuits to facilitate our diverse student population. In recent years pupils have also participated in activities such as; wheel chair basketball, bubble soccer, self-defence classes, and yoga, to name a few. All pupils are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities as we encourage a holistic environment where pupils get to grow and develop both socially & academically.
