Some examples of what we are doing:

Literacy

• Using the EAL keywords tool in English, History and Science with our 1st year students.

• Working to increase the number of our Junior cycle students who read for pleasure.

Numeracy 

• Working to increase the number of our students to see numeracy in every subject.

• Working to increase the  number of our students who take Higher Level Maths in Senior Cycle.

Attainment

• Ongoing communication with our students to educate them on the direct link between punctuality, full day attendance and attainment.

Attendance

• Ongoing education and communication  on the advantage of full day attendance with our 4th year and 5th year students.

Retention

• Working to retain all our senior cycle students until completion of state exams.  

• Ongoing education so that our students know that a full day attendance is linked to retention.

Partnership with Parents/

Guardians

• Communicating with our parents/guardians about the importance of punctuality and full day attendance.

• Raising awareness about the benefits of reading for pleasure.

Partnership with Others

• Retaining and enhancing our relationships with agencies and businesses that offer Work Experience placements to our students.

• Working with local Primary schools to maintain and expand on our links.

Supporting Transitions

• Collating a bank of contact email addresses for our graduating students so that we can gather information about their post Leaving Cert pathways.
