Floristry Retail QQI 5 Fetac Component


Retail Floristry (Level 5 FETAC) aims to equip the student with the knowledge, skills and competency to work effectively in Commercial Floristry. The main focus of the course is based on developing the practical skills required to work as a professional florist, combined with the necessary theoretical knowledge. In addition, there is a strong emphasis on understanding creativity and encouraging the development of each student’s creative and artistic abilities.

Programme content for this course includes the following:

- Flower Conditioning and Handling

- Flower Assembly, Presentation and Wrapping

- Flower Arrangement

This course covers all aspects of the theory and practice of Commercial Floristry, with special emphasis on Skills Development. Examples of topics covered include the following:

- Bouquets (Flat, Hand-tied and Informal)

- Arrangements (Traditional, Contemporary and Symmetrical)

- Wedding Flowers (Construction of Formal and Informal Wedding Bouquets in addition to a wide  range of Bridal Floristry items)

- Funeral Arrangements (Construction of Sympathy Arrangements including Double Ended Spray, Sheaf, Open Wreath, etc.)
